Parents Visa
A type of family visa is the parent visa. The parent visa is one of the several Australian family visas available. The government made significant revisions to the Other Family visas on June 2, 2014.
Generally speaking, there are two sorts of parent visas. While the other visa must be applied for while you are outside of Australia, the first one may be applied for while you are in Australia.
If the Sponsor is in Australia
Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) visa (from subclass 884 to subclass 864):
You may apply for a permanent Contributory Aged Parent visa if you currently possess a temporary Contributory Aged Parent visa (subclass 884). (subclass 864).
Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 884):
The duration of this temporary visa is two years. You can apply for the permanent Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) visa if you have this visa (subclass 864).
Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) visa (subclass 864):
This is for you if you are the parent of a kid or children who reside in Australia. For elderly parents, it is a perpetual visa. While more expensive than the visa for elderly parents, this one is typically processed more quickly.
If the Sponsor is outside of Australia
Contributory Parent (Migrant) visa (subclass 143):
For parents who have children living in Australia, this is a permanent visa. Although it costs more than the parent visa, this one is typically completed more quickly.
Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 173):
This is a two-year temporary visa for parents who have children residing in Australia. You can then apply for the permanent Contributory Parent visa if you have this visa (subclass 143).
Contributory Parent (Migrant) visa (from subclass 173 to subclass 143):
The following information is for temporary Contributory Parent visa holders who wish to apply for a permanent Contributory Parent visa (subclass 143). It is possible to apply for this visa in Australia.
The Australian Immigration Department has currently ceased to accept applications for the following visas, even though these are the principal categories of the parent visa for Australia:
Before a decision is made about the applicant’s visa, family members of applicants who submitted their application before 2 June 2014 may be able to be added to the application.
